AYURVEDA CAN HELP YOUR SKIN, HAIR & NAILS
Although Ayurveda philosophy has become trendy in recent years, living your life holistically is certainly wonderful. Being able to create a link between mind and body is not easy and following this type of spiritual path at the basis of Ayurveda is fundamental in order to keep body, soul and mind in balance.
Doshas also represent different body shapes in addition to skin types. As we mentioned earlier to achieve this physical, emotional and spiritual balance, Ayurveda believes that it is necessary to harmonize one's individual Doshas.
Doshas are the energies that govern each individual, each dosha has its unique emotional and physical characteristics. There are mainly three types: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Most people tend to have a combination of Doshas with make your unique body constitution. In rare cases, people can be tri-doshic and have all three of the same proportions.
HOW YOUR DOSHA INFLUENCES YOUR SKIN
There are various ways to get an accurate analysis of your dosha, to find out what it is and consequently start to put the principles of Ayurveda into practice in your skin care. Not only that, the dosha is "responsible" for our body shape and preferences for perfumes. Our skin can be Vata, Pitta and Kapha depending on which is our prevailing dosha.
VATA SKIN: HOW TO TAKE CARE OF IT
Vata skin is often thin, delicate and characterized by dryness. Sometimes it also has fine lines or wrinkles even at an early age. It is not impure skin, but it may have dark circles under the eyes. For this type of skin, it is necessary to use softening creams and oils, capable of rebalancing the dryness of the skin and comforting it. All products that add essential fatty acids to keep the skin radiant and elastic are also perfect. The diet must also be balanced, and to keep the skin hydrated, it is preferable to choose fatty foods, such as walnuts, avocados and salmon. Raw vegetables should be avoided because they contribute to the dryness of the skin and slow down digestion.
PITTA SKIN: FEATURES AND HOW TO CARE IT
Pitta skin, on the other hand, is characterized by a luminous but very sensitive complexion that can often appear red and irritated. It is a skin that is easily burned by the sun, it is also often characterized by freckles. Unlike Vata skin, this type can have clogged pores and have a shiny T-zone. In this case, you should choose products that will calm your skin and also take care of rebalancing and moisturizing it. The perfect ingredients are: coconut, lavender, rose and tea tree. You can also use soothing herbs like neem, sandalwood and thyme. Your perfect diet includes many cold vegetables, such as cucumbers and zucchini in addition to watery fruit such as watermelon and pear. Instead, avoid acidic foods such as tomatoes, because they could risk causing redness.
KAPHA SKIN AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS
Finally, Kapha skin is the most complex because even if it is smooth and bright it is often afflicted by enlarged pores and shine. We must therefore go to purify the skin to eliminate clogged pores and possible rashes. With this type of skin, you have to resist the temptation to dry it excessively from the sebum, with the use of too aggressive products, which could cause the opposite effect. Rather, prefer delicate products to alternate with deep cleaning and peeling. Choose moisturizing and nourishing creams containing essential oils such as rosemary, peppermint, geranium and citrus fruits.
